After three years of research, a team of leading marine experts from Deakin University and The Nature Conservancy have released a watershed report describing and mapping the economic value provided by the coastal wetlands of southeast Australia.
The report “Mapping Ocean Wealth Australia”, details the importance of saltmarsh, seagrass and mangrove environments for Australia’s (1) fisheries, (2) tourism & recreation, (3) carbon storage and (4) coastal protection.
