Anirban’s research interests are carbonate chemistry and carbon cycle (inorganic and organic) in the estuaries and coasts, the air-water flux of the greenhouse gasses in the estuarine and marine systems, and blue carbon (mangroves, seagrasses, salt marshes, and macrophytes) dynamics concerning climate change. He is also interested in phytoplankton ecology, epiphytic algae, aquatic pollution, coloured dissolved organic matter (CDOM), and broadly marine biogeochemistry. His expertise encompasses fieldwork in the tropical, subtropical, temperate, and boreal sites of India, Japan, and Hong Kong, along with laboratory analyses and writing/publishing a number of scientific peer-reviewed articles, having worked in coastal and estuarine ecosystems, where he has undertaken research.
At Blue Carbon Lab, Anirban is working on the “Formation and stabilization of coastal blue carbon” project, bringing his intensive expertise in Biogeochemistry/Biogeoscience and affirming experience in carbonate chemistry. His role is also important in researching and global data mining on various aspects, functions, and drivers of coastal blue carbon.
