Deakin’s Blue Carbon Lab offers innovative solutions to mitigate climate change. You can also be part of the solution by supporting our cutting-edge blue carbon research.

Did you know that blue carbon ecosystems are up to 50 times more effective than rainforests at storing carbon? As our world continues to heat, we continue to discover more about the vital role of blue carbon ecosystems to help regain control of our planet’s thermostat.

Yet whilst Australia has more blue carbon ecosystems than anywhere else in the world, we still don’t know enough about how blue carbon works, and how we can harness its role to help the world mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis.

What we do know is that we must do much more to understand, share and build the role for blue carbon initiatives to have a bigger impact on our planet – as well as on the billions of lives, livelihoods and ecosystems that depend on them. As sea-levels rise, and habitats are destroyed, we also know that we’re running out of time.

At the Blue Carbon Lab, we lead globally unique work to understand and shape opportunities for blue carbon to change our world for the better. Philanthropic partnerships sit at the core of what we can achieve – supercharging our mission and work, building investment into a world-leading research centre to make a difference.

If you share our passion for ensuring blue carbon has a key role in addressing the climate crisis, and developing initiatives to scale its impact locally and globally, join us in our mission by:

  • Making a tax-deductible online gift today to support blue carbon research
  • Speaking with us about our transformational plans for the future and how your philanthropy, or corporate partnership, can really make a difference
  • Leaving a gift in your Will to make a lasting impact for generations to come

We look forward to hearing from you – thank you for your support.
