Taryn is a researcher and science communicator with broad experience across ocean science, science policy, and science communication. She has worked in academia, nonprofits, and government on issues relating to marine conservation and climate change. She received her PhD from the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at James Cook University in Queensland, and her Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Yale University in the United States.
Taryn will be working with the Blue Carbon Lab to support a variety of projects, as well as the science communication strategy for the lab. She is based in Canberra, where she also works for the Australian Academy of Science in the program Future Earth Australia, a sustainability-focused science policy organization.
