Finalist 2021 AFR Higher Education Award for Emerging Leadership

By Blue Carbon Lab | News | Comments are Closed | 16 December, 2021 | 0

This year’s Australian Financial Review (AFR) Higher Education Awards have been announced and we are excited to share that Professor Peter Macreadie was “Finalist 1” in the Emerging Leadership category!

The AFR Higher Education Awards put the spotlight on institutions contributing significantly to Australian prosperity and quality of life. The entries are judged by an eminent panel of Higher Education experts. The Emerging Leadership category award is granted to the best leadership figures in Australia’s university sector.

This achievement recognises and celebrates the work and contribution of the Blue Carbon Lab in the development of nature-based solutions for climate change mitigation.  The Blue Carbon Lab have a strong track record of translating science by bridging the research-industry divide and empowering the community to value Australia’s aquatic ecosystems and build a sustainable future.

Macreadie was one of the finalists, along with other advocates for a better world, including pioneers in gender and family violence prevention, biosensor development, and Indigenous strategy and leadership. Read more on Macreadie’s approach to translate science into policy and practice here.
